Apparently Blogtober is a thing! It is a challenge to write a post on your blog for all 31 days of October. No matter your genre or interests – the idea is to get you writing daily.
Anyone who has ever followed any of my blogs will know that I am a slightly erratic blogger; I tend to over think an idea and then rather than blog it, I try to write an entire article (or in one particular instance a book!) And it is an article that I generally don’t complete that then clogs up my PC files for months on end, mocking me with its ‘unfinishedness’ (totally a word!) The point being, I don’t tend to blog to a regular schedule.
This is madness…
While initially thinking the idea quite mad – how would I find enough to write about for 31 straight days…and where would I find the time! – it has occurred to me that this site is missing a large number of pages, particularly regarding the items I completed (or not, as the case may be) during my 40×40. It then struck me that I could write about the tasks, and save them for posterity under the appropriate tab in the menu, thus creating a comprehensive historical record of my ‘achievements’. Some of the things already have pages, such as my tattoo and my Geocaching articles, however if you mosey on over to the ‘complete my 40 x 40’ page the completed tasks link to my Youtube vlogs. I thought I would correct this and do a write up on each of the activities; the ones that were completed and the ones that are currently languishing on my new Kettle List. I could intersperse the month with my ‘soon-to-be-regular’ mid-life takes on current issues (looking forward to what people make of the 4th post, about K-pop!) as well as general lifestyle and box ticking news.
Therefore, I have decided to take up the Blogtober challenge – having a framework for the posts will make it a bit easier than having to come up with new ideas every day, my Blog will get updated a lot quicker and it will get me writing daily like I want to. This might just be the boost I need to spend more time doing something I enjoy … and allow me to shamelessly link in vlogs from my Youtube Channel!
I have also been asked to work on a collaborative piece, so we shall see how that goes too!
Come join me for the next month: I will hopefully pick up better time management habits from trying to plan ahead; you will get to know a bit more about me and what I do (and who my K-pop bias is!), and there may even be ideas for your own Bucket Lists. (I don’t mind, you go ahead and take them if you want them!)
If you are a first time visitor I explain what a Kettle List is here and how it differs from a Bucket List (hint: it is purely semantic!) – And I will see you tomorrow with #27 on my 40 x 40 … Go indoor Skydiving!
