Ticked off the List
As mentioned in my last post, I have ticked ‘Drive a car’ off of the 40×40, which is now an upgraded item on the Kettlelist (I have lots of lists, if you find yourself getting confused, and I know I do, just go here) Basically I have set myself the challenge of passing my driving test.
In the Vlog I chat about how I feel it went, and time scales for getting #3 on the list finished
Writing my book
Last week, I missed my pondering. That is not to say I didn’t write one; I wrote extensively, so much so in fact that I went over my hour and still hadn’t finished, so decided to extend it and will put it out this Thursday instead. Somewhat ironically, I was so busy writing I didn’t have time to write a blog post…
What it did make me realise is how much I enjoy researching and writing. It also reminded me that I have a number of unfinished written works stored on my computer that need finishing… Which is why I have started a new project!
I am currently in the throes of a Haiku series. The form is one that really speaks to me,and I will confess to have becoming a little obsessed. Having said that, I am, however, in total disagreement with the NaHaiWri squad in their statement that English Haiku doesn’t need to conform to the 575 rule. I need the rule; I need the constraints and focus that the syllable limitations bring. I have researched the historical significance of different Kigo, and even developed my own set; I am taking this quite seriously.
There is a course on Future Learn that I am currently working my way through about Japanese books and papers. As I said, I really am getting into this!
I would really like to hear what you are currently writing about, and whether you overthink it as much as I do, to the point of not actually completing the piece!
I haven’t a clue what you’re talking about so now I need to go and do some research… Obviously I know about driving btw 😄
